Gender:
Participants are expected to be mindful and respectful in their use of language when it comes to gender, both in and out of character. Gendered terms should be avoided where possible, particularly when addressing groups or individuals whose preferences are not known. Neutral language helps create an inclusive environment and reduces the risk of making others feel excluded or misrepresented. If a player has stated their pronouns or preferred terms, these should always be respected. Mistakes can happen, but they should be acknowledged briefly and corrected without drawing unnecessary attention or causing discomfort.
Within the game itself, all roles are open to players of any gender, and there are no in-character penalties, restrictions, or assumptions based on gender identity or presentation. Players should not impose stereotypes or expectations onto others’ characters, and should instead engage with each character as an individual within the story. This approach supports a more diverse and creative roleplay experience, where everyone has equal opportunity to participate fully. By avoiding unnecessary gendering and respecting each player’s identity, the community maintains a welcoming, immersive, and fair environment for all.
We are not interested in a depiction of sexism. Sexual violence will not be part of this, or any other Burning Herald game, and any reference to such will be met with a final warning.
